QUIZ – Weed control challenges

Growers face challenges to timely weed control. Here are three questions to help get the most from weed control sprays when days are grey or windy, or when fields have lots of target weeds.

1. If days are too windy, night can (sometimes) provide a reprieve. A Farming Smarter study compared three time-of-day options for herbicide application – daytime (noon-2:00pm), night (midnight-1:00am) and dawn (4:00-5:00am). Daytime spraying showed the best results. What was second best?
2. Temperature affects herbicide efficacy. Which scenario is best for herbicide efficacy?
3. Liberty 150 SN (glufosinate) herbicide can be applied to Liberty Link canola from cotyledon to early bolting stages of the crop. When you tank mix Liberty with Centurion (clethodim), the crop stage stays the same. When you add Facet L (quinclorac), which can be included in a three-way tank mix with Liberty and Centurion, what is the window of application based on crop stage?
