All of the boron treatments have been applied to the Portage la Prairie UCC site. Currently the trial is close to full flower. Although, over the July 4-5th weekend a storm brought 39 mm of rain and 52km/h winds, resulting in a wet site and slight lodging.
Below, is a photo of the sclerotia depot located at the site near Portage. Sclerotia depots are a new method used to predict the risk of sclerotinia. The depot was buried 2-3 cm into the soil when the crop reached the 4-5 leaf stage. Each week the number of germinated apothecia is observed.
