September 7, 2021 – The Canola Council of Canada (CCC) is pleased to welcome Chris Davison as vice president, stakeholder and industry relations, and Troy Sherman as director, government relations.
“We are very fortunate to have Chris and Troy join our organization,” says Jim Everson, president of the CCC. “Together, they will draw on the strengths of the CCC team, and lead activities in government relations, market access and trade, and regulatory affairs that are required to help our entire sector thrive.”
Davison joins the CCC from Syngenta, where he held several leadership roles over a nine-year timeframe, most recently located in Washington, D.C. as head, business sustainability North America. He has more than 25 years of experience in the agriculture sector, including work in the areas of public and regulatory affairs and government relations.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity to be part of the CCC’s strong, united voice for Canadian canola,” says Davison. “I look forward to engaging with governments, industry partners, agriculture and business leaders in North America and globally to advance the goals and objectives of our membership.”
Sherman joins the CCC from StrategyCorp, a leading government and public affairs consultancy in Ottawa, where he led client accounts providing advice and support on a wide range of government relations issues. Previously, he was the manager of policy at the Canadian Produce Marketing Association and a policy advisor to an Ottawa city councillor.
“This is an exciting time for Canadian agriculture, and I’m delighted to be back in the sector and be part of the canola industry’s strategy,” says Sherman. Sherman will support the development and execution of the CCC’s government relations strategy, develop and maintain strong working relationships across government, advance the Council’s public policy priorities, and work with partner associations to strengthen the grains and oilseeds sector.
The Canola Council of Canada is a full value chain organization representing canola growers, processors, life science companies and exporters. Keep it Coming 2025 is the strategic plan to ensure the canola industry’s continued growth, demand, stability and success – achieving 52 bushels per acre to meet global market demand of 26 million metric tonnes by the year 2025.
