Our apologies re: “Order Confirmation” emails

March 21 Update

The Canola Council takes privacy very seriously. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the unauthorized “Order Confirmation” emails sent out on Saturday, March 18. We’re working with our service provider to conduct a thorough investigation and have implemented steps to ensure the account is secure.

These unauthorized emails were sent through a third-party e-newsletter service provider to individuals who subscribe to Canola Council news service lists within that account. The information contained in those distribution lists includes email addresses and, for some lists, postal codes and professions. That information was not taken by the unauthorized user. We do not use this third-party system to process payments or capture financial information of any sort.

We recommend that anyone who opened the email scan their computer to ensure it is secure. Four recommended antivirus software options are listed below:

If there is more information to be shared on this matter, it will be posted here.
